Will it ever be possible to travel at 15 times the speed of sound?
That’s one part of the hypersonic research going on at Southwest Research Institute. They’re testing vehicles traveling at MACH 15, or 15 times the speed of sound. We’ll find out how they use something similar to a gun barrel to perform tests that heat surfaces hotter than the sun.
