Longtime San Antonio radio host joins KLRN news team

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: July 14, 2021 

KLRN Public Television is excited to announce that Elizabeth Ruiz will join the KLRN News Department as a News Update Anchor. Ruiz recently retired after a 40-year career at KTSA/KTFM Radio. Her vast experience as a new anchor and reporter includes covering the San Antonio Police, City Hall, and the Bexar County Courthouse. In her tenure in radio, she has covered hurricanes, floods, Presidential visits as well as the Papal visit.

“We are delighted to have Liz join our growing team at KLRN.  San Antonians know her well, and I’m sure many people will be happy to see her on KLRN News Updates,” said Shari St. Clair, Director of News and Production at KLRN. Ruiz will join St. Clair and veteran reporter, Donna Parker, in anchoring these segments featured weeknights during primetime programming, on-air and online.

Ruiz is very active in the San Antonio community devoting countless hours to helping local non-profit organizations thrive. A graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, she furthered her education by getting a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Trinity University before studying journalism at San Antonio College.

Other honors include The San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award, Edgewood Hall of Fame, San Antonio Woman’s Hall of Fame, San Antonio Radio Hall of Fame, Texas Radio Hall of Fame, and Order of the Cascaron.
