Artist Information
Kenny Bissett is a musician and songwriter from San Antonio, Texas. His musical journey started like many others in the school band, where he learned to read music and play the oboe. After high school, he bought his first guitar and began playing songs with friends, eventually forming a band and playing clubs and venues around the city. In the mid-eighties, the band Felt Nun had become popular in the underground alternative music scene, even going on to be selected band of the year by Current, a local music magazine. Felt Nun even played in the second annual South By Southwest festival before it exploded into one of the largest events of its kind in the world.
When Felt Nun band members went their separate ways, Kenny continued playing in some cover bands while also writing original songs. After a long period of solo writing, Kenny joined with Patric Farrell, a long-time musician and friend to form Built for the Future. Together they released their first album, Chasing Light. The album did well in Europe and the United States with the ability to stream the songs through Apple Music and Spotify.
Since the first album release, Kenny went on to release his first solo album, Broken Wilderness, and followed up with a second album in February of 2022, The Balancing Act. Both solo albums come from his personal experiences and capture the ideas of recognizing our own mortality, and understanding that we are much happier when we shed the things that weigh us down, and hold on to the things that bring us joy.
Currently, Kenny and Patric are working on a third Built for the Future album called 2084. The album is loosely based on the Orson Wells book, 1984. Having lived in San Antonio for fifty years, Kenny has been in and around the music scene for most of that time and has enjoyed meeting many friends and music lovers along the way. Here's to a musical future in the great city of San Antonio, Texas!
