Gather your friends to explore technologies during Teen Tech Week together!
The San Antonio Public Library welcomes teens ages 13-18 to join the celebration of Teen Tech Week during March 6-11. Teen Tech Week was created by the Young Adult Library Services Association, and the goal is to help teens develop digital and media literacy skills.
During the week-long celebration teens are encouraged gain hands on experience at their local San Antonio public Library location. Activities available include coding, experimenting with 3D printers, and exploring virtual reality with Oculus Rift.
The upcoming Teen Tech Week events taking place this week include:
Virtual Reality with Oculus Rift- Teens will test out virtual reality with Oculus Rift. The event will take place at Teen Library at Central (600 Soledad St., 78205) on March 7 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Coding with Geek Squad- Teens will gain knowledge in coding and programming from members of Best Buy’s Geek Squad at Teen Library at Central (600 Soledad St., 78205) on Wednesday, March 8 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Teen Time: Tech Week-Teens will test the Cubelets modular robotics system, an opportunity to program an Arduino microcontroller, and take part in other STEM projects. The events will take place on March 8 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brook Hollow Branch Library (530 Heimer Rd., 78232).
Teen Time: Image editing with GIMP- Teens will experiment with image editing with GIMP which is a free and open-source editor used for image retouching and editing, free-form drawing, converting between different image formats, and more specialized tasks. The event will take place on March 9 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Potranco Branch Library (8765 Hwy 151, 78245).
