Dear Friends,

Thank you for starting the school year on the right note, as you always do! You make sure that the learners with whom you work are ready to tackle new subjects, explore, and grow. Equally, you show them that you listen to them and care about what they have to say. That makes a positive difference.

Friends, we are keeping a continued focus on mental health and overall well-being. As the events of the months prior have shown us, as important as it is to celebrate successes and joys, it is equally important to recognize signs when something is not going well and when something is not right. If you or someone you know is hurting or in crisis, call or text 988 or visit 988lifeline.org to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. At the bottom of this post, you will find a list of links of organizations, both local and nationally, that provide mental health resources.

Starting September 3, in recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, the Ken Burns Documentary Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness will be available for streaming for free through September 17. Hiding in Plain Sight Video Clips and Resources are also available on PBS Learning Media.

On Saturday, September 10, we invite you to join us for our Virtual Youth Mental Health Summit. This online event is free and open to everyone. All are welcome. If you are attending as an educator, please know that continuing education credit will be offered upon completion of the summit and the accompanying post survey. For a full list of upcoming training sessions and other events, please visit the KLRN Events Page
