Salute to Service, hosted by Jon Stewart and featuring the United States Army Field Band, is a heartfelt Veterans Day celebration honoring heroes past and present, uniting us in gratitude as we reflect on their service, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of America.

ELVIS AND THE USS ARIZONA tells the surprising story of how one of music's biggest icons helped to establish a USS Arizona memorial in Pearl Harbor. Elvis' fundraising concert drew public attention to the plight and helped to galvanize efforts to finish the USS Arizona Memorial as it stands today.

A film focusing on one of World War II’s most heroic and least talked about units, Merrill's Marauders. Legendary news anchor Tom Brokaw narrates the tale of a group of volunteer soldiers who specialized in “hit and run” tactics in the jungles and mountains of Burma.

Follow this inspirational and heartwarming documentary, which highlights the journey of disabled veterans whose lives are forever changed through the unconditional love of service dogs that have been expertly trained by female prison inmates. Join three veterans as they meet their service dog and work directly with the inmates in a Texas women’s prison.

NAVY HEROES OF NORMANDY

NOV. 10 | 8PM | NAVY HEROES OF NORMANDY

On June 6, 1944, more than 52,000 American sailors on board thousands of ships arrived off a quiet stretch of coast in Normandy, France. Operation Neptune-Overlord was the largest amphibious and landing assault operation in the history of war. On this historic day, the U. S. Navy would prove critical to the success of the Allied invasion of Western Europe. NAVY HEROES OF NORMANDY spotlights a dedicated group of Navy veterans who set out to ensure that the crucial role they played on that day would never be forgotten.

Trace the unique history of aviation in the Alamo City and the South Texas region through a fast-paced montage of vintage and contemporary photographs and film clips. The story is told through on-location interviews with many of those who have taken an active part in the region's military and commercial aviation experience.

TO BE OF SERVICE is a feature-length documentary film about war veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) who are paired with a service dog to help them regain their lives. 

 
TWO WARS: THE ROAD TO INTEGRATION

NOV. 11 | 9:30AM | TWO WARS: THE ROAD TO INTEGRATION

This film tackles the topic of segregation and eventual integration of the United States Military. Since the earliest days of the Republic, African Americans have been part of the nation’s fighting force. African American service members in the United States Military fought to defend the very freedoms they could not enjoy as citizens.

NOV. 11 | 9:30AM | THEY VOLUNTEERED FOR THIS: MERRIL'S MARAUDERS

Narrated by CBS Sports' Jim Nantz. The Seabees on Iwo Jima focuses on the United States Naval Construction Battalions in World War II, which built all the infrastructure for the Allies in Europe and the Pacific in WWII. The Seabees were construction workers by trade but had to fight at times. Their motto was "We Build, We Fight," and their biggest test came in the battle for Iwo Jima in 1945.

Henry Louis Gates, Jr. explores the roots of actor Julianne Moore, comedian Bill Hader and painter Kehinde Wiley, revealing how their ancestors' military service left an indelible mark on their families -- and on their country.

 
ARMED WITH LANGUAGE

NOV. 12 | 10PM | ARMED WITH LANGUAGE

ARMED WITH LANGUAGE tells the story of how a little-known military intelligence school in Minnesota played a pivotal role in ending World War II. The institution trained more than 6,000 Japanese Americans, or Nisei, to be translators, interrogators, and Japanese military specialists. After decades of being classified, the story of their courage, sacrifice, and valor is finally being told.

Stories of US veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the impeccably trained service dogs they're paired with. These dogs bring independence and a feeling of safety along with a new measure of happiness and hope to these brave warriors who were sent into the maw of war.

 
SEND ME

NOV. 15 | 9:30PM | SEND ME

In Somalia in 1993, U.S. Army Ranger Matt Eversmann led the rescue of downed airmen in the Battle of Mogadishu, which became known as the "Black Hawk Down" mission. SEND ME follows Sgt. Eversmann, who was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor, as he returns to combat with the U.S. military in the fight against ISIS and the Taliban. The film provides an insider's look into the lives of active duty U.S. military personnel stationed in far-flung outposts overseas.
