KLRN-DT began broadcast operations
on May 1, 2003 to comply with the
Federal
Communications Commission mandate
for digital broadcasting. Today,
the digital broadcast service is
still under development and in
the next few weeks you might see
substantial changes in the programming
on that channel.
Check out the upcoming schedule of High Definition and other digital
programming on KLRN.
Digital television is much different from the traditional analog
television (like Channel 9) that has served us
for decades. In addition to the greater variety
of programming that DTV allows KLRN to broadcast,
this new channel will also offer an Electronic
Program Guide (EPG) that provides much of the
same schedule information that you find here
on this web site.
Depending on your receiver, you will have a "program guide" function
that will collect and display program titles
and air times, making it convenient to see what's
on all the local DTV stations.
Soon this page of the web site will also have detailed information
about KLRN-DT programming and recent developments
in this evolving broadcast service.
KLRN-DT currently provides two program schedules:
On Channel 9-1 is a digital High Definition version
of the traditional public television programming,
also carried on Channel 9.
On Channel 9-2 is a schedule of digital programming
from PBS, KLRN and other sources including
repeats of primetime programming during the
daytime and many "digital-only" programs unique
to this service.
On
Time Warner cable in San Antonio, these two
channels are found on 108 and 92.
