Program Description
Alzheimer's disease is increasingly becoming the most identifiable disease of the baby boomer generation. The debilitating illness affects close to 200,000 working-age Americans, a statistic that has a far-reaching impact on not only health, but also the US job market. Already there are cases of public figures who are battling the disease while still working, but what is to become of the average every-day worker? Just how prepared are businesses to deal with an employee suffering from Alzheimer's, and what are worker's rights if diagnosed with the illness? Host: Lark McCarthy. Guests Include: Holly Warlick, the newly appointed head coach of the University of Tennessee's Women's Basketball team and 27 year co-worker of Coach Pat Summit, who was diagnosed with early onset dementia prior to the beginning of her last season as head coach. Julie LeBlanc, the Associate Director of Clinical Services at Harris, Rothenberg International, and Dr. Dan Marson, Director of the Alzheimer's Disease Center at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
